Fresh breath and healthy gums start with daily hygiene, but herbs have long had their place in oral care. In this category you will find plants that Bulgarian folk medicine has traditionally used for the good condition of the gums and the lining of the mouth.

Bilberry (Mirtiliy) is a bilberry leaf tincture. Bilberry leaves contain tannins, which give them a slightly astringent taste, and are traditionally used for the good condition of the mucous membranes. Agrimony is an agrimony tincture – a herb known in folk medicine for similar properties. We also offer dried bilberry leaf for making an infusion.

The tinctures are food supplements for oral use – diluted in a glass of water according to the instructions on the pack. They complement, but do not replace, regular brushing, flossing and dental check-ups.

If your gums keep bleeding, or you have pain, swelling or sores in the mouth that do not heal, see a dentist or doctor. Herbs are a complement to, never a stand-in for, a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Anyone pregnant, breastfeeding or on medication should talk to a professional before use.

FAQ

The manufacturer’s instructions provide for oral intake – 20 drops (about 1 ml) dissolved in a glass of water, 3 times a day. No other method of use is described, so for gargling or rinsing, ask a dentist or pharmacist.

Both plants are traditionally associated with the good condition of the mucous membranes. Bilberry is a good choice if you prefer a single-herb tincture, and the dried leaf if you want an infusion. Read the description on each product page.

No. Bleeding gums, toothache and long-lasting sores in the mouth require a dental examination. Herbs can be part of everyday care, but they do not replace professional diagnosis and treatment.
