This small category brings together two of the best-loved herbs in Bulgarian folk tradition – elder and calendula. For generations they have been used in home care during the cold season and for the good condition of the skin and mucous membranes.

Sambutsin is an elderberry tincture. Elder is traditionally used to support the body’s natural defences, especially in autumn and winter. Calendula is a tincture of calendula (marigold) flower – a plant that folk medicine associates with the good condition of the mucous membranes of the mouth and digestive tract.

Both tinctures are water-alcohol extracts with no added colourings, flavourings or stabilisers, and are taken orally, diluted in a glass of water, according to the instructions on the pack.

It is important to be clear: these are food supplements, not antibiotics or antiseptics. They do not treat or prevent infections and do not replace treatment prescribed by a doctor. If you have a fever, severe pain or symptoms that do not go away, seek medical help. If you take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a doctor before use. Herbs complement, but do not replace, a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle.

FAQ

No. Sambutsin and Calendula are food supplements with traditional use, not medicines. If a doctor has prescribed you an antibiotic, complete the course as instructed and ask them whether you can take herbs alongside it.

Both tinctures are taken as 20 drops (about 1 ml) dissolved in a glass of water, 3 times a day, preferably 10–15 minutes before meals. Each bottle contains 50 ml. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

Elder and calendula are often combined in home practice, but everyone reacts differently. If you want to combine them, especially while taking medication, ask a pharmacist or doctor. Detailed information is available on each product page.
