The spleen is an organ we rarely think about, even though it helps filter the blood and plays a part in the body’s defences. Bulgarian folk medicine has herbs that are traditionally associated with its normal function and with general cleansing of the body. We have gathered them in this category.

Antitoxin is a tincture combining milk thistle seed and dandelion leaf – two herbs that folk medicine has traditionally used to support the liver and natural cleansing processes. Agrimony is an agrimony tincture, an old Bulgarian herb with wide traditional use. For herbal tea lovers we offer dried madder root – a plant known in folk recipes for centuries.

The tinctures are water-alcohol extracts with no added colourings, flavourings or stabilisers and are taken diluted in a glass of water according to the instructions on the pack.

Pain in the left side of the abdomen or an enlarged spleen are reasons to see a doctor straight away – herbs do not replace a medical examination and treatment. Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication, consult a professional before use.

FAQ

According to the ingredients list, 1 ml of Antitoxin contains the equivalent of 70 mg of milk thistle seed and 67 mg of dandelion leaf in a water-alcohol extract with 45% vol. ethanol and deionised water. Take 20 drops (about 1 ml) in a glass of water, 3 times a day.

The preparation method, amount of herb and contraindications are described in the instructions for use on the product page. Follow them strictly and do not exceed the recommended dosage. If in doubt, ask a pharmacist.

If you have pain or heaviness under the left ribs, unexplained tiredness, frequent infections or bruise easily, see a doctor. These symptoms require an examination and tests, and herbs are not intended to treat them.
