Lavender (Lavandula) is an annual, herbaceous plant from the Mint family (Lamiaceae). The herb is widespread throughout the country, but you can most often see it in the Kazanlak and Karlovo valleys. It loves open spaces and sunlight. The usable part of the plant is the flower. They contain essential oil (up to 3%), mineral salts, sugars, tannins and bitter substances, organic acids, saponins, glycosides and anthocyanins. Thanks to its active substances, lavender has calming, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, pain-relieving, diuretic, antispasmodic and disinfecting effects. It is beneficial for spasms of smooth muscles, migraines, painful menstruation, nervousness, cardiac neurosis, kidney and gallbladder colics.
