Black bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) is a perennial plant from the Ericaceae family. It prefers clay or sandy soils. In Bulgaria, you can find it in sparse coniferous and deciduous forests, among shrubs, rocky meadows, and high mountain pastures up to 1800m above sea level. Other names for the plant are: Blueberries, Blackberry, Common bilberry. The usable parts of black bilberry are the leaves, fruits, and stems. The leaves are richest in vitamins A, C, tannins (20%), tanning substances, myrtillin, neomyrtillin, anthocyanins, anthocyanidins, oleic acid, ursolic acid and quinic acid, glucochone, flavonoids, etc. Thanks to its active substances, the herb has antioxidant, strengthening, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and astringent effects. Beneficial for gastritis, colitis, enteritis, diarrhea, neutralizes the effect of free radicals, stimulates blood microcirculation and tones the body.

Black bilberry leaves are used for:
