Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) is a flowering, herbaceous annual to biennial plant from the daisy family (Asteraceae). It is a heat-loving plant and prefers moist soil. It can be found throughout the country in wooded areas, forest paths, meadows, pastures, grasslands at altitudes up to 1000m. The usable part of the plant is the seed. They are rich in silymarin (main component), phospholipids, Omega - 3, 6, 9 acids, vitamins A, E, P, K, essential oil, resins, flavonoids, mucilaginous substances. Thanks to its active substances, the herb has anti-inflammatory, detoxifying, choleretic, laxative, tonic, hepatoprotective properties. It promotes digestion and eliminates toxins in the body, stimulates regeneration of liver cells, inhibits tumor growth, improves gallbladder function.
