Bearberry (Arctostaphyllos uva-ursi L) is a perennial, evergreen, creeping, shrub-like plant from the Ericaceae family. The active substances in the plant are: arbutin, allantoin, uvaol, hyperoside, quercetin, vitamins B and C, gallic, formic, quinic and ellagic acids. The herb is a natural product used primarily for its antiseptic and diuretic properties. It is widely used in the treatment of urinary tract infections.
