Calendula (Calendula officinalis L.) is an annual herbaceous plant with distinctive color and aroma. In Bulgaria, it can be found under the following names: Magdalene flower, Rain flower, and Death flower. It has anti-inflammatory, regenerative, detoxifying, and antimicrobial properties. Contains antioxidants, including triterpenes, flavonoids, polyphenols, and carotenoids. The herb is used for ulcers, cardiovascular diseases, skin infections, and wound healing.
Calendula is used for:
- treatment of wounds, burns and scars
- for gastrointestinal tract problems
- menstrual pain
- diseases of the female reproductive system
1 tablespoon of the herb should be steeped in 500 ml of boiling water for 15 minutes. After that, strain the infusion and drink 150 ml 3 times a day before meals for one month.
